A common element in all CRICHTON HALL wines is hillside grown fruit. This handcrafted Merlot is derived from three acclaimed vineyards, including Caldwell Vineyard in Coombsville and Truchard Vineyard in Carneros. These cool southern vineyards provide structure, good acidity and tannin along with black fruits and bright cherry elements. Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon adds power, structure and aromatics to this charismatic long lived wine. The wine spends eighteen months in French oak barrels.

Unlike Pinot Noir and Chardonnay which we feel are best expressed from single vineyards, with the red Bordeaux varieties the sum is greater than the parts. Making small lots from diverse sites results in a wine of great complexity.

Heartier fare such as rack of lamb, cassoulet and full flavored cheeses are delicious accompaniments.
